Sex Tape - Review

It's virtually impossible to not love a film with Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel starring as the main characters. The "How I Met Your Mother" star plays the musical husband and Cameron Diaz plays the blogger mum. After realizing that their relationship was crumbling due to the lack of a sex life, they decide to spice things up by making their own sex tape, but, of course, nothing stays personal for long when Jay (Segel) syncs their homemade porno to several different iPads that they gave away as Christmas presents. The couple spend their week struggling to stop the tape from reaching the rest of the world.

The concept of the film is a brilliant idea and the humour in the script only helps to add to the greatness of it. It's also just off the mark of being realistic, I can imagine something along the lines of this plot happening in the real world, if a little more toned down and with more anger than humour.

However, a lot of the film comes across as a super long Apple commercial and that is something I have to rate it down for. I understand that the iPads ability to sync is an important part of the story but I think it was made too much of an important part. The idea of the movie itself is hilarious and the acting is amazing which is no surprise for Segel and Diaz but the script is too packed full of Apple like promotions to cut a five star and for that, i'm giving it a 3.5/5. It was good but just not good enough.
